Two-Dimensional Models
Hydronia develops hydrologic and hydraulic river and estuary models to simulate 2D and 3D free surface flows, sediment transport and pollutants discharges including oil spills using advanced and innovative methods including finite volume, finite element and neural networks.
RiverFlow2D has been in use for more than 15 years and it was released as a commercial model in 2009. It has been successfully applied in hundreds of projects worldwide. We have an ambitious plan to release new models, including advection-dispersion, suspended sediment transport, particle tracking, oil spills, and more.
OilFlow2D (finite volume model)
OilFlow2D the new member of Hydronia suite of models. This unique software is able to simulate oil spills over land and a forthcoming update will allow modeling spills on water
The model offers the fastest and most advanced finite-volume viscous flow free-surface 2D engine based on unstructured flexible meshes to handle oil flow over complex terrain. >> More information.
RiverFlow2D (finite volume model)
RiverFlow2D is a breakthrough in 2D hydraulic modeling, offering a highperformance finite-volume engine for faster, accurate and volume conservative computations in all flow situations. RiverFlow2D results achieve zero volume conservation errors (< 10-10 % Error) thanks to the new model engine based on ultra-accurate Fourth-Generation Finite-Volume algorithm which offers unmatchable stability and ease of use, and a new wetting-drying method handles the most demanding topography like never before. >> More information
RiverFlow2D GPU uses the same 4th generation finite-volume numerical engine as the RiverFlow2D model, but runs 30 times faster and more when using specialized Graphic Processing Unit cards. RiverFlow2D GPU has been optimized for NVIDIA Tesla Accelerators including the Tesla C2075 and Tesla K20, K40 and K80, but can also run efficiently in NVIDIA GeForce GTX hardware such as the GTX 780 and Titan Black cards. To run this model you need to have the RiverFlow2D GPU license and a desktop computer with one of the supported NVIDIA cards. Setting up the data and results visualization is common to all RiverFlow2D models which are 100% file compatible, so upgrading from RiverFlow2D Plus to GPU is a seamless process. This means you can run all your files developed in RiverFlow2D Plus and get a 3000% acceleration, just utilizing the appropriate GPU hardware. >> More information
This webinar will discuss how RiverFlow2D Plus GPU flexible
mesh model can achieve 85-times faster runs than non-parallelized models. We will show the recent results of our performance tests in the latest generation NVIDIA hardware that ensure speedups of 2D
simulations that was thought impossible until shortly ago. We will focus on how you can take advantage of this readily available modeling tool to give a boost to your 2D modeling projects. We
will also demonstrate Hydronia ongoing efforts to breaking the 100X acceleration target in the next few months.
RiverFlow2D Modules
MD | Mud & Debris Flow module available
ST | Sediment Transport module available
PL | Pollutant Transport module available
RiverFlow2D MD is an add-on module to RiverFlow2D and is the only 2D model to simulate single-phase mud and debris flows in two-dimensional flexible meshes commercially available. The model provides eight different non-Newtonian rheological relationships that allow simulation of hyperconcentrated sediment mixes which makes it appropriate to simulate mudflows over urban areas. The rheological formulas included are: Complete and Simplified Bingham, Turbulent and Coulomb, Turbulent and Yield Stress, Turbulent, Coulomb and Yield Stress, Quadratic (e.g. Herschley-Buckley), and granular flow.
The model is an advanced tool to simulate inundation from tailings dam breaks in 2D and can represent the rounut process and yield-stress fluid stoppage.
RiverFlow2D MD also includes all the capabilities of RiverFlow2D to simulate water flow in 2D. >> More information
RiverFlow2D LT is the FREE version of the RiverFlow2D Argus ONE edition model including Mud Flow, Sediment Transport and Pollutant Transport modules. It has virtually the same capabilities of the commercial license, but it is limited to meshes of less than 2000 triangular celss. This version is completely free to download, and comes with documentation in PDF format.
RiverFlow2D FE v4 (finite element model)
RiverFlow2D FE is a hydrodynamic, mobile bed model for rivers and estuaries that uses a stable and powerful finite element method to compute high resolution flood hydraulics, including supercritical and subcritical flows over dry or wet river beds. Use of flexible triangular mesh allows resolving the flow field, sediment transport and bed elevation changes around key features in complex river environments. RiverFlow2D FE offers two Graphical User Interfaces (GUI) options: Argus ONE and Aquaveo SMS. Both GUI's provide advanced tools for mesh generation and GIS processing.
RiverFlow2D has been applied on numerous river projects worldwide including large rivers in the United States, South America, Europe and Asia.
RiverFlow2D FE model is now only distributed as part of our new RiverFlow2D Plus system for backward compatibility. >> More information
