NEW! Modeling Oil Spills 

 

OilFlow2D is the new member of Hydronia suite of models. This unique software is able to simulate oil spills over land and a forthcoming update will allow modeling spills on water.

OilFlow2D simulates oil spills on land caused from pipeline or tank breaks. The model offers the fastest and most advanced finite-volume viscous flow free-surface 2D engine based on unstructured flexible meshes to handle oil flow over complex terrain, accounting for variation in viscosity and density as a funcion of temperature.

OilFlow2D has capabilities to model oil spills over water. This extension will be fully integrated with the oil-on-land component and will be released next winter.

The OilFlow2D model on land and on water runs on the revamped Aquaveo’ SMS GUI that provides all the tools necessary to setup the model the most demanding sites, and includes outstanding visualization and dynamic animation capabilities to facilitate oil spill risk assessments.
